Project Highlights

Founded in Shanghai, Design Republic has been devoted to bring comfortable and domestic lifestyle to the Chinese market for the past decades. It is the main dealer & distributor of many western furniture brands for their market in mainland China. The Zhengzhou store is their 3rd branch store and the 1st one outside Shanghai. In order to bring an impressing new style to the potential market in Zhengzhou, this store is designed with special feature rather than just minimal background for all the furnitures displayed in the store.

The concept is about "Alley and Windows". On 1st floor, we used the level difference in the site to creat a carved pitch roof atrium for guests to peel into “the house” and discover the domestic life inside. On the main exhibition level, B1, splitted pitched roofs line alongside the corridor. Under each pitched roof, is a mock-up area showing the prototype of domestic living space with furnitures from designer’s brands that the store can distribute. The dark corridor reminds people of the small alleys in the town center, as well as the mood of walking and discovering the exquisite goods displayed in the warm-lit showcases along the way. By reconstruct the old public urban space in the store, designers integrated the scenerio and the philosophy of the DR store together.
